- I need a hand getting X11 running on my NeXT. Any help would be
- appreciated. The situation as it stands.
-
- I recently purchased a NeXT, which came with 3.0 installed. I have
- been trying without much success to get X11 (pref R5, but R4 is ok)
- up and running but to little avail. I have copied from various
- archive sites mouseX, XNeXT, and X11R5 for NeXT. MouseX and XNeXT fill
- the screen with gray lines but the cursor is just a white line and
- other windows are equally distorted beyond recognition.
-
- X11R5 for NeXT looks better in that I can recognize some of the icons
- (the cursor, xbiff etc) but they are all bit patterns with the dots
- spread way out. Things seem to work, but with so much space between
- pixels the screen is wrapped over itself multiple times, making it
- unusable.
-
- I have some source to an X server for the NeXT but have as yet been
- unable to compile it, as some include files seem to be incomplete,
- or missing in 3.0.
-
- I have installed and used both XNeXT and mouseX on machines running
- 2.0 in the past so I believe my installation methods have been correct.
- They installations for all of them are fairly easy, in any case.
-
- I presume that it is either the OS 3.0 causing the problem (all
- version I have found of X were compiled on 2.1 or earlier) or
- the fact my machine is a Turbo-monochrome, or both.
-
- If anyone out there knows some place I can look for binaries,
- has helpful hints on getting an X server compiled, please let me know.
-
- Send me mail and I will post summeries, or just follow up.
-
- Thanks
