- OK, I admit to being a non-NeXT type person...
-
- We are trying to integrate a NeXTstation into our network of Digital
- DECstations. It's primary purpose is for access to mathematica, so it's
- not a full addition to the network, as it were. yp is not being used.
-
- While it's simple to convince the slab to mount all the zillions of
- NFS directories I need, I also need the ability to basically just feed
- it an /etc/password with updated users and passwords at any time, and do it
- relatively automated. I also cannot do this at the console by hand for
- a multitude of reasons (Ranging from the console is in another city to
- it's hard to automate things if it requires human intervention... :-)
-
- Can someone give me pointers (email, please!) on the best way to update
- user account information without having to go through the user interface
- that it so plainly seems to want to force on you? I've gone through the
- FAQ's I can find, which has been enlightening on some things, but not this.
- (Because of the network design and planned usage of the slab, all user
- accounts will be on mounted drives - other than root and one or two other
- accounts, nothing will physically reside on the NeXTstation itself...)
-
- All recommendations for this novice-NeXT-site appreciated... Email is even
- more appreciated...
-
- Thanks,
-
