  13. I have been working with some of the new dye-sublimation
  14. printers that have come on the market, and I must say,
  15. if you want GREAT color (or rather, if you need GREAT
  16. color), check out the Tektronix Phaser IISD or the 
  17. Shinko CP-446i duy-sublimation printers.  They are 300dpi,
  18. continuous tone, with either monochrome, 3 color, or 4 color,
  19. ribbons.  Absolutely fantastic color output.  Much, much
  20. better than any thermal wax transfer printers like the
  21. NextColor printer.

  23. The problem with thermal wax is that you can scratch the printout
  24. and the waxy surface gets damaged.  With the dye sublimation
  25. printers, on the other hand, the ink bleeds into the paper 
  26. and you get a much more permanent print that is less
  27. susceptible to damage by mishandling.

  29. Sure would be nice if Next had an offering in that arena.
  30. At least I wouldn't have to pay for a Postscript engine
  31. for the printer.
