- I just bought and read the PC-Magazine annual printer survey. It looks like
- NeXT is falling behind in its printer offerings. 600dpi is now the new
- high-end PC mono-printer standard based on a new Canon P-270 engine (e.g.
- HP-LJ4), and the HP paint-jet XL300 outperformed the Canon BJC-800.
-
- So:
- [1] Has anyone tried to hook up a Paint Jet or even a DeskJet C500?
- Is it plug and play?
-
- [2] This question is most important for me:
- ** To make presentation slides, is there a way I
- ** could save a NeXT color image to a file and print
- ** it off a PC with an HP 500 C? Or print it off an
- ** arbitrary Color laser jet printers, which I presume
- ** would be much easier. (Are there some
- ** print-shops in the West-LA area where I could go
- ** and pay to print a few slides?)
-
- [3] For curiosity, has anyone hooked up an HP-LJ4? Can my NeXT
- communicate with the HP-LJ4 through its very-high-speed
- parallel port (e.g., through the DSP port)?

- PS: Anyone noticed? NeXT screens are no longer high-end, either, because
- 1280*1024 on-screen has become a new (very) high-end PC screen standard. I'd
- love to get crisper text.
