- I couldn't see where anyone has reported on this modem-in-question in the faqs
- so I'll ask here: Has anyone used, or might there be opinions about:
-
- Computer Peripherals Inc., "Viva 14.4/Fax Modem"
-
- I do not yet know all the jargon, but they specify:
-
- V.32bis high speed, full-duplex data modem w/ V.42bis &
- MNP5 compression, plus V.42 & MNP2-4 error detection and
- correction. Hayes & G3 compatible. $299 external.
- Comes with "Quick Link II FastFax" DOS sw (so what, right?)
-
- So, do i understand that this is a 14.4k baud modem? Could someone summarize
- all of the "V-this, V-that" lingo for me... I take it to be different
- compression schemes, but i-dunno, how's it all work? Price ok? NeXT
- compatibility?
-
- Other suggestions for a fax-modem?... the faq's seemed sorta dated on the
- topic.
-
- Thanks for any & all.
- pax,
- Karl
