- Considering an environment with:
- - Token Ring LAN present, which is connected (by a bridge)
- to an IBM (MVS) host system
- - Several PC's connected to the Token Ring
- - a new-to-install NCR3450
-
- Is it possible to let the 3450 communicate with the SNA host by
- using the Token Ring for transport INSTEAD of a direct SDLC
- connection (normally connected to some MPCA in the 3450).
- I want to do RJE, 3270 emu etc. to the SNA host. Since there is
- a connection to the host present (the Token Ring), it would be
- nice to use that instead of installing a seperate SDLC connection.
- I think.
-
- Also, can a MCA (Multi-Protocol Communications Adapter) be used
- for both SDLC and Token Ring ? Or does Token Ring require a
- seprate card ?
-
- Thanks for reply (preferrably (also) by mail) to the address below.
-
- Dick.
