  22. The only real problems I was able to find with 6.0.7 on my 100 are:

  24. 1) the backlighting doesn't work without the Portable CDEV version 1.3,
  25. which you can get from ftp.apple.com.  Even then, the knob doesn't
  26. work, you get a sliding bar in the control panel to control backlighting.

  28. 2) the Keycaps utility doesn't work properly because there's no
  29. entry for the 100's keyboard in the Key Layout file.  You can copy
  30. the KCAP resource for the 100 from 7.0.1 and then it works.  Still,
  31. a few programs don't seem to know keyboard shortcuts, but that's
  32. only a small percentage of programs.

  35. When you consider that 7.0.1 is essentially useless on a 2Mb machine
  36. (IMHO), and that the ~600K RAM 6.0.8 takes is fully half what 7.0.1
  37. takes, System 6 makes the difference between a useless and useful
  38. machine (again, IMHO).  I wouldn't go back to 7.0.1 (or especially
  39. 7.1!) for... well, anything I can think of.
