- I use system 7.0, and my hard drive icon won't stop being a piece of dog-eared
- paper.
- Here's what I've tried:
- rebuilding the desktop (no effect)
- reinstalling system 7.0 entirely (no effect)
- just plain pasting a new icon in info box (won't let me)
- resediting the folder info ("can't find file" when I try to save changes)
- iconmaster (no effect)
- redoing that file called "ICON" (no effect)
- plus many other HD fixing programs (no effect / can't find a problem)
- Disinfectant 2.9 (clean disk)
-
- I have started the machine on sys 6, and the icon goes back to normal, but
- starting 7 again goes back to the piece of paper. I heard a rumor that this
- could have actually caused my problem to begin with.
- When I run Norton Utilities, as I select the drive to open, Norton shows the
- HD name with the icon that I tried to put in with iconmaster.
- I've also heard that this problem could indicate something deeper and more evil
- Was there a program that came with 7.0 that checks all the boot blocks and
- other HD stuff to make sure nothing is corrupted? What was it called?
- Can anyone think of what is wrong with my system, and how to fix it?
- It's been a most annoying problem, and I think it has to do with other random
- icon problems my machine keeps having (icons going away, just going to the
- dog-eared piece of paper).
- HELP!!!!
