- wasn't there a README file with it? (there was even a later warning
- text file I had added to the archives...)
-
- basically, it is the alfa version of a fix for a PowerBook serial
- port problem; supposedly os 7.1 has the fix applied, but when I
- asked if/when when the release version can be expected (for users
- who do not plan to upgrade to os 7.1) I was told "soon"...
- but I'll believe it when I see it.
-
- It was also communicated to me from "people who should know"
- that this particular alfa-version has a problem which can eat
- (into) your file system ...
-
- In a way, the situation calls for a public taring and feathering
- of Apple for not bringing out bug-fixes in a timely fashion...
- (in particular as this hurts third party modem manufacturers like
- Global Village, etc)
