- the gateway comes with system software, so does the mac
- you have to pay to upgrade both
- they both come with free software (though the pc comes with more and,
- some may argue, more usefull software, in that you have a choice about
- what you get and such)

- so you pretty much get the same hardware/software packaging/cost
- arrangement with both except that the mac costs a lot more
