- Hey Gang,
-
- A friend of mine ran into a crazy problem I couldn't figure out, so I'll
- give y'all a shot. Realize that this problem was described to me over the
- phone by a mac-novice, so he might have left out details or whatever. Any-
- way here's the deal...
- He got some "turbo-net" network connectors for his IIsi, a powerbook 170,
- and a HP Laserjet. They are running system 7 but for whatever reason, some-
- one hooked him up with Tops (ugh!)
- I got him to remove Tops, startup file sharing etc and everything was fine.
- Then he calls me back to say that when he tries to empty the trash, his mach-
- ine crashes.... it also crashes when he tries to copy a file! Here's the
- weird part.... when he turns of appletalk... everything is fine. I figured
- maybe his "Appleshare" file was corrupted, but that didn't seem to be the
- case.........
- Rebuilding the desktop didn't work, and he doesn't have Norton for System 7,
- nor does he have the system 7 master disks for a re-install. I'd rather not
- make the trip to Boston to do a re-install. :-/ Anyone have any ideas?
- Thanks a bunch.
