- Ok folks of Mac-dom, I've a question. We're trying to get WAIS for the
- MacIntosh. Our means of access is ftp to some site via a NeXT. So I
- found the source code for WAISStation and the file is of the dreaded
- '.sit.hqx' type. (dreaded because I'm not sure what to do with it.)
- Anyway, we thought, 'Oh we need binhex' to unpack it. So I go looking on
- the archives for binhex and I found version 4.0 and 5.0 except they are in
- '.bin' format (arrghh). I think what happens is that Mac's do something
- to the files during transfer that make it a .bin file and then when a mac
- downloads it, it knows to undo the .bin part.
-
- Would someone like to suggest how I can get the source for WAISStation and
- the necessary utilities to unpack it on a NeXT (mach unix). What we had
- planned at that point was to copy the stuff to a Mac disk and load it onto
- a mac for compilation. We're going to deal with getting the network to
- the Mac after that.
-
- Any ideas? If you have any, emailing me would probably be better than
- posting here because I don't read this group. I'll try to remember to
- check it though.
-
- Thanks.
