- I would like to rebuild my desktop; I've heard it's a good thing
- to do. But before rebuilding the desktop, the finder oh-so-
- casually asks if I mind that all finder comments (i.e. the
- contents of the Comments: box in Get Info windows) will be
- erased. Of course I mind! If those comments weren't important,
- I wouldn't have put them there!
-
- If the finder is not willing to preserve comments when it
- rebuilds the desktop, it seems to me it should be possible to
- write a little utility which saved all comments into a file
- somewhere so that they could be reliably and automatically
- re-applied after a desktop rebuild. Does such a utility exist?
- I'd try writing one myself, except that I don't feel like
- learning that much about finder internals right now.
-
- I'd prefer freeware; this is a trivial enough function that I
- wouldn't be willing to pay more than about five bucks for such a
- tool.
