- The only problems I've had with AutoDoubler are the following:
-
- I had a pocket hard drive which was unable to do error-free file transfer.
- The usual tools, which just test individual sector reads and writes, didn't
- show problems, but the drive would give frequent read errors. AutoDoubler,
- which did reading and writing to the drive while I was doing other things,
- did manage to make some files unusable, although most of them could be
- repaired. This was with an early version and hardware that wasn't working
- right. Auto-Doubler's test tools showed that it had problems writing and
- reading to the free space of the volume successfully. If anyone is using
- AD and having files become corrupt, test your drive very thoroughly - that
- is likely to be the problem. Some third-party drives come with very poor
- SCSI circuitry and cabling, and the noise introduced can cause errors.
- AutoDoubler, by doing reads and writes to compress the files, can reveal
- an underlying problem if there is one.
-
- I got my money back on the Pocket hard drive... :)
