- Hello.
- I am having some difficulty with file sharing under Mac OS 7.0.1* and was
- wondering if someone out there has done something like the following:
-
- I want to set up sharing on all my remote macs in such a way that the whole
- hard drive is available to the computer staff so that we can do remote back-
- ups, etc (also to make changes to their systems). I then want to be able to
- share individual folders on the drive with other groups. The problem is,
- once I set up sharing at the disc level, no one else can get through down
- to the lower level folders who isn't in the Computer staff group. If they are
- in the staff group, they can see everything on the disc. Has anyone done this
- kind of thing before?
-
- I have thought of some ways around this, but I really don't like them very
- much. I could (since I know and set up all the owners) connect as the owner
- and then do my backups, etc. I don't really want to do this since I would
- have to keep about 30 additional passwords in my head or worse!, on the
- system. I thought briefly about putting myself as owner of all the machines,
- but that is just as distasteful. Hopefully I have just overlooked the way
- to do this. Could somebody set me stratight?
-
- Thanks in advance.
