- I have a IIsi with a 13" high resolution color monitor that's about two years
- old. Recently I've been running into a bizarre problem. When I switch on
- the system, the monitor comes on normally and then fades out slowly to
- darkness within a minute or two. (Sometimes it does not come on at all;
- sometimes it will fade out spontaneously after using it for a while.) If I
- leave it as it is for 15-20 minutes, it will slowly fade back on.
-
- Yesterday, it faded out within a couple of minutes of switching on the
- system, and did not come back on for 30 minutes. I leaned over the monitor
- and started to pick it up, and suddenly it came back on slowly. But when I
- left the monitor, it faded back out again. It was almost as if it needed
- some "warming up". I then held my hands over the front edge, around the
- screen area, for a few minutes, and sure enough, it came back on. Once it
- had been on for a while, it stayed on. Again, it's almost as if it needed
- some warming up. Now I don't want to switch it off because if it doesn't
- come back on I won't be able to use it.
-
- Is this a common problem with these monitors? Does anyone know what this
- might be due to, and how to fix it?
-
- All suggestions much appreciated!
-
- Thanks,
- Ashwin.
