  12. I recently posted an article indicating that the Quadra 700
  13. internal video would not support multiple resolutions on an
  14. E-machines T16-II monitor.  I was incorrectly given this info
  15. from what I thought was a reputable E-machines dealer.  Mark
  16. Thomas set me straight on this issue. I apologize for posting
  17. incorrect information.  Mark's remarks follow:

  19. <Simply not true. The Quadras determine the resolution of the monitor
  20. <attached by looking at three "sense lines" (Pins 4, 7, and 10) on the
  21. <monitor cable. Which resolution do you want? Simply plug in the proper
  22. <adapter. This works with ANY Quadra capable monitor. We use T-16 II's
  23. <at my company and many are connected to Quadras. By the way, the
  24. <adapters are available from many companies (Average $20) INCLUDING
  25. <E-machines. I'm surprised they didn't tell you this. Actually, I made
  26. <my adapters by hand (I have pinouts & info on the Quadra video).

  28. <There's another way: Alysis makes software called DPI-on-the-fly
  29. <which allows Quadras to switch resolutions from a control panel
  30. <without even having to reboot! This software comes free with NEC
  31. <monitors but works with other monitors.
