-
- Actually, Envisio does not (so far as I know) offer accelerated video boards
- for the IIvx. They do make internal video boards for the (older) PowerBooks.
-
- But, you are correct in that E-Machines and Radius do make such boards. In
- fact, the Radius PrecisionColor 24Xp board was designed specifically for the
- 16" display (and compatibles). It also happens to drive 13" and VGA as well
- as multiple frequency displays, but it's a great match for the Apple 16".
- It provides 1, 4, 8, 16, and 24 bit modes in 640x480, 800x600, and 832x624
- resolutions. If you happen to have a multi-frequency display, you can even
- change resolutions on-the-fly without restarting the machine! In addition,
- it has on-board QuickDraw acceleration. But wait, there's more! The best
- part is that it retails for $599, which (I believe) is LESS than the 8*24,
- and (at last check) the 8*24 card will only drive the 16" at 8-bits. The
- 8*24GC card will drive the 16" at 16-bits, but it costs MUCH more, and has
- been plagued with problems.
-
- [OK, so I work for Radius. OK, so I helped design the 24Xp. Well, what
- can I say? OK, maybe I'm biased, but I think it's a great board!!] :-)
