  12. I'm looking for a somewhat-larger-than-640x480 color monitor for a IIci.
  13. When I started looking, I assumed that I could find an approx 800x600 
  14. resolution monitor for just a little more money. Now I'm not so sure.

  16. Does anyone have anything to recommend? 8-bit color would be *fine*.

  18. Some ideas I've considered:
  19. Color Pivot LE:-- problem: it has been discontinued (I may still be able
  20.     to find one, though, if anyone has a really strong recommendation).
  21. Color Pivot    -- problem: it costs TWICE the LE.

  23. NEC 3FGx + NEC board -- problem: the board costs $800.
  24. NEC 3FGx + another board -- Problem: whose? Any suggestions for a compatible
  25.     board in the $400 range?

  27. conventional 16-17" approach: problem: monitor+board runs $1700 or so.
  28.     (I visited some dealers; this is what they all wanted to sell me.)

  30. I'm trying to keep the price as little above 1K as possible.

  32. I guess my real problem is that most equipment marketed for this niche
  33. is directed towards high-end DTP. I'm not interested in that; all I *really*
  34. want is enough room to be able to edit my foo.c and foo.h files simultaneously!
