- I've been given a venerable Mac 512K, but I feel that the fact that it doesn't have
- enough memory to run any modern software could somewhat limit its usefulness. I've
- been told that it's not possible to upgrade the memory on a 512, and my only course
- would be to spend \sterling 300 or so to have its motherboard upgraded to a Mac Plus.
-
- What is it that prevents me simply adding more memory - is it just a matter of space
- on the board, or is the address bus only wide enough for 512K? If the latter is
- true, then would it be possible to add another address line by soldering in a jumper,
- and bodge in some extra memory that way? - I can't see why the 68000 shouldn't be able
- to address more memory than 512K...
-
- Excuse my general total ignorance of Mac architecture - any suggestions on how to get
- a workable machine out of this 512K without spending loads are most welcome - but
- please reply to me, as I don't read this newsgroup very often.
-
- Thanks...
