- I have a Mac IIfx, and yesterday I added a couple of NuBus boards
- and I increased the RAM from 8 Mbytes to 20 Mbytes. Now I'm having
- a little problem with the NTSC signal from the TrueVision NuVista+
- board. My guess is that I'm over taxing the power supply.
-
- The NTSC signal from the NuVista+ ( I haven't check the S-Video, nor
- the RGB signals ) has periodic horizonal fluctuations. It will
- stablize for about 1 minute following by 5-10 seconds of instability.
-
-
- The system configuration before the problem was this:
-
- 8 1-Meg SIMMS
- 1 SuperMac ColorCard/24 with Graphics accelerator
- 1 TrueVision NuVista+ board with 2-Mbytes Video RAM
- 1 Digidesign AudioMedia DSP board.
- Neither monitor is plugged into the power supply outlet
-
-
- The Current configuration is this:
-
- 4 4-Meg SIMMS, 4 1-Meg SIMMS
- 1 SuperMac ColorCard/24
- 1 TrueVision NuVista+ board
- 1 Digidesign AudioMedia board
- 1 SuperMac Video Spigot
- 1 Diaquest Animaq VTR single frame controller board
- Neither monitor plugged into power supply outlet
-
-
- My understanding is that the stock Mac IIfx power supply is
- rated at 132 Watts.
-
- Someone said that the added RAM is what is causing the
- biggest power drain, which didn't seem right to me. This
- same person said that using a line conditioner instead of
- a bigger power supply should solve me problem. Again I
- was dubious.
-
- Any and all recommendations as to what I should do, and
- information either confirming or denying the aforementioned
- advice I've already received will be graciously appreciated.
