- How can I use SoundEdit to listen to a sound
- resource that was recorded at different data
- rate (or compression rate?) than what SoundEdit
- has a default?
-
- Here are the specifics. I got ahold of a sound
- resource from sumex-aim for my son (Ren and Stimpy).
- When I double click on the resource, system 7
- automatically plays it. Fine so far, except that
- that sound is very long. Therefore, I wanted to
- use SoundEdit to chop it down a bit.
-
- When I open the sound with SoundEdit, it opens it
- at a 22K sampling rate which is *MUCH* too fast.
- If I copy and paste the sound into a new window
- (in which I have set the rate at 5K), the sound
- remains the same, i.e. much too fast. Basically
- all this does is record the identical sound at
- a different compression rate but doesn't actually
- convert the sound to the new play back rate.
-
- Is there a way to do the conversion?
-
- Thanks, John
-
- P.S. I have used SoundEdit to chop down the sound
- without the benefit of listening to it. After saving
- it again, System 7 plays back the shortened sound
- just fine. The only down side is that this forces
- a trial and error approach to the editting.
