  16. Does anyone have any positive or negative feedback on the new IBM PS2/700
  17. laptop?  I actually saw the color version yesterday and it actually looks
  18. pretty nice.  I only had about twenty minutes to play with it, but it looked
  19. nice.  I should be getting a monochrome unit to take a closer look at.

  21. I've seen the AST PowerExec recently too and it's REALLY nice except for
  22. the stiff keyboard.

  24. Has anyone seen the Dell 320SLi laptop?  It looks great except for the
  25. 20Mhz speed and lack of a cache.  I might even be able to live with this if
  26. I could only find one to take a look at.

  29. Positives Features of IBM ThinkPad 700C:

  32.     - Only laptop with 16550A UARTS that I've found.
  33.       I've tracked down every lead to laptops that people thought
  34.       had 16550A's in them and none actually did.  This is the only
  35.       one I could find.  PLEASE let me know about any others that you
  36.       know has them.  You can check this by using the MSD command if
  37.       you've got windows.  Type a 'C' at the diagnostics screen to
  38.       see what UARTS are installed.  The MSD command can be run
  39.       directly from the DOS prompt.

  41.     - Fully removable hard drive.

  43.     - Builtin Mouse.  It's like a pencil eraser in the middle of the
  44.       the keyboard that you push in each direction.  It's actually
  45.       pretty easy to get used to.  I would have put the mouse select
  46.       buttons in a different place, but they're tolerable.

  48.     - Keyboard seems nice.

  50.     - Good active Matrix Color Display.  Haven't seen the monochrome
  51.       version yet.

  53.     - Has two slots that appear to be PCMCIA slots.  The salesman wasn't
  54.       sure if they were standard ones or not.  If anyone knows for sure,
  55.       please let me know.

  57.     - Reasonably priced.  Check your local dealers for actual prices.
  58.       They are competitive with all other laptops on the market with
  59.       the same features.

  68.       or bugs if there are any.

  70.     - Doesn't have an enhanced parallel port like some of the 386SL
  71.       based laptops do.

  73.     - If two slots aren't standard PCMCIA, I'll be bummed.

  75.     - Color version weighs around 6.9 pounds.  I was told that the
  76.       monochrome weighs 5.8 - 5.9 pounds.
