- When we say that XGA is a 32-bit card, you're talking about the BUS, not
- the graphics memory or anything related to that. Its the difference
- between a "8-Bit" and "16-Bit" VGA cards. They both have a maximum
- color number of 255, and resolution of 320x200 (generic VGA) but the
- 16-bit one will greatly outperform the 8bit one because of the wider
- bandwidth. Now, XGA is 32-bit, so you have an either wider bandwidth
- for data to travel across the bus at, so things are even faster. As far
- as I know, XGA-2 will support (on standard IBM monitors) 640x480x65k and
- 1024x768x256 as well as other colors, but those are the highest
- resolution, highest color modes. There might be an 800x600x65k but I
- really don't know about it, and I do know that its not supported on any
- of the 85xx and 95xx monitors.
-
- I've got an XGA-2 on order, I'll let you all know when it gets in.
