  14. In a few of my programs, when DOS is accessed, I have been receiving fatal
  15. memory allocation errors.  In all cases, the problem arises when I attempt
  16. to change directories or load files.  The programs always display some
  17. sort of "Memory Allocation" error, and attempt to leave to DOS.  However,
  18. when control is passed to DOS, the following error comes up.

  20. Memory Allocation Error
  21. Cannot load COMMAND.COM
  22.  
  23. The system then locks-up, requiring a reboot.

  25. This problem affects these particular programs (which had been working
  26. correctly), but no other programs.  No other abnormalities have occurred.
  27. I had assumed that some sort of software bug existed, but the problem
  28. continued to appear with no TSR's or memory managers installed at all.  I
  29. even tried using the 4DOS command interpreter, with no effect.

  31. The only other possibility that exists is that some sort of hardware problem
  32. exists.  Can anyone suggest what hardware component might be causing this?
  33. My system configuration follows:

  35. Intel i386-DX, 16 MHz (made in 1985, contains that common bug)
  36. SCSI (Sumo Systems) Drive Interface, 40M Quantum, 120M Maxtor Drives
  37. Sound Blaster version 1.
  38. GameCard III
  39. Modem
  40. BocaRam AT+Plus, SIMM version, 2 megs configured as extended memory
  41. 1M onboard extended memory
  42. Unisys motherboard
  43.  
  44. As I mentioned, this problem appeared recently, with only these particular
  45. programs (a circuit analysis program, and Wayne Gretsky Hockey III).
  46. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
