  11. I have a system which was upgraded from a 386DX (no external cache) to
  12. the Cyrix 486DLC.  The system runs fine, and with the DO_CACHE.EXE
  13. program which enables the on-chip internal cache, the performance
  14. increase is quite dramatic.  This works under DOS since DO_CACHE.EXE
  15. is a DOS executable.

  17. Unfortunately, I primarily run UNIX on this system and the default
  18. mode of the 486DLC after reset is with the internal cache disabled.
  19. I need to write a UNIX driver for the 486DLC to enable its cache.

  21. So, the question is this:  Where can I find information about the
  22. specific instructions necessary to enable the 486DLC internal cache?
  23. Is there any sample source code available?  Also, I want to make this
  24. code enable the 486DLC cache only in the presence of such a chip.
  25. Is there a way to detect a 486DLC (as opposed to a vanilla 386DX or
  26. 486DX)?

  28. If I can't get any info off the net I will probably have to try
  29. Cyrix themselves.  Does anyone have the technical info phone number
  30. or address of Cyrix?
