- The "official" specs are"
- Max video PEL rate: 90MHz
- Max screen resolution: 1280x1024
- Max palette colors: 16.7 million (at 1024x768 - 256 colors simultaneously)
- Max palette greys: 256
- Max direct colors: 65,536 -- at 640x480 (at up to 75Hz refresh)
- -- at 800x600 (at up to 60Hz refresh)
- Video Memory: 1 MB VRAM (which is why you only get 256
- colors at 1024x768)
- Adapter Type: 16/32-bit bus master
-
- The educational price is $270 and I think list is $360, but I won't
- swear to it. Radius is making an ISA version of the card, due out
- soon. IBM sells the Radius card in Europe -- US users have to go to
- Radius directly.
-
- Those are the supported numbers up there. I've seen people doing
- weird numbers like 1360x1024 resolution, which isn't supported but
- very possible if you do a little bit of work with the DMQS software
- shipped with the adapter. The 1024x768x256 modes do ISO refresh
- rates.

- The XGA doesn't do well on the WINMARK benchmark (pulling only about a
- 10), but that's because of the weighting of that benchmark. On
- practical applications and programs it's much faster. And this is
- from a guy who has an ET4000 on his home 486/33 comparing to his work
- 386/25. I believe we have a study on several Windows programs
- comparing the timings, and the XGA is very, very strong on the mix of
- operations shown by real programs. This is especially noticable on
- OS/2 text in a window.
-
- As far as future enhancements, there will be some. That's about all I
- can say :-)
