- I didn't mean to jump on you for it. I like to think I have some ability
- in programming, and busting me for only using the Pro for "VGA purposes"
- didn't sound too good. Anyway, onward to the things that matter:
-
- I guess I would still be using the Pro as a "normal" VGA card even if
- I wrote a program to set the card into 800x600x16.7M and direct video
- wrote bytes to it. Ok, you are right, it is simple, but at the moment
- it is about the only thing any of us can do, right? Still the idea (to me,
- at least) of displaying 16.7 million colors at once (though there aren't
- that many pixels on the screen!!!) is really cool. I've never seen anything
- more than 256 colors. And to think I thought GIFs were great!
-
- Do you own the Pro, Mike? What is it like? I haven't actually seen it
- yet, though I will in 2 weeks or so. Are the DOS characters kinda "fuzzy",
- like someone took a paintbrush and wiped the characters in one direction
- (right direction)?? Could this be a bad ground or bad cable? The cable
- used is the same as what was used with the old ATI VGAWonder, and that
- card had great definition on the Sony monitor my Dad uses. Nothing weird
- like what he is experiencing now. He said it looks really bad in Windows,
- especially with the white background. Black letters are wiped across
- the screen in the direction of the electron beam. Any ideas???
