- I just bought the Texel DM-3021 for my Adaptec 1542B and here's what I've
- found.
-
- First of all, I expect that the Texel and the Adaptec will work well together
- once I get my little problems ironed out. I haven't yet and this is my tale
- of woe.
-
- The drive does NOT work well with the Adaptec ASW-410 driver, though
- noone at Adaptec will tell you that (well, ok, the one guy I talked to wouldn't
- tell me that :->). When I called Texel, they said that I shouldn't have spent
- the $ on the Adaptec software (the board is pretty good, but the software. . .)
- and instead should have purchased Trantor's (sp?) ASPI driver. I am in the
- process of trying to trade my Adaptec driver for Trantor's (I bought the drive
- and the software from Dirt Cheap Drives; so far they have been quite helpful,
- but I haven't told them of the driver incompatibility yet) -- wish me luck.
-
- You need an underlying ASPI driver on top of which to install the CD-ROM ASPI
- driver, by the way, for the Adaptec board to work. Just thought I'd mention
- that.
