- On most computers, the CMOS information is stored with the clock
- (battery ???). As the battery gets old, it loses time and,
- occasionally, the CMOS. I had this problem on a Compaq I was using and
- fixed the problem by simply replacing the clock battery. This is
- simply to do, however, batteries are not cheap. The battery can
- normally be found stuck or valcroed near the expansion slots. It has
- about two wires sticking out of it.
-
- When you are using the computer, the clock runs off the main power
- supply. Once the power mains is disconnected from the PC, the clock
- switches to battery power hense its ability to keep time accurately
- when the PC is on but not when off.
-
- Hope this fixes the problem.
