- I am trying to run Spinrite II.. I'm not a computer geek and seem to
- be having some problems..I need help!! I remember successfully using
- Spinrite on my system about a year or so ago but can't remember how
- I was able to do it...
-
- It seems that RAM resident programs will not allow Spinrite to do its
- thing.. However, I boot up my system (Headstart Vendex II) using a floppy
- disk and not my hard drive so as to avoid bringing on line the menu
- programs.. My system is an IBM compatible 286 (AT) unit..
-
- My question is this.. Is there a DOS version which produces TRS programs
- (disk caching?) when I boot up.. I thought that my floppy disk had a
- DOS version left over from my IBM PC Jr. and that I could boot up my
- computer and then run Spinrite.. But it doesn't seem to want to run..
- I keep getting the following message:
-
- "Inter-sector Timing Analysis indicates that disk caching software is
- active. Spinrite is unable to operate in the presence of this disk caching.
- Please remove the disk caching before preceeding."
-
- Renaming my autoexec.bat file and booting up from the hard drive also
- doesn't appear to work..
-
- Anyone give me some help??? Thanx.
