- I'm sure DAK would be very willing to erase you from their mailing list.
- Just call their 800 number.
-
- DAK is a reputable company and their products and their customer service is
- good. They specialize in two catagories of merchandise - manufacturers who
- want to make a dent in the market, and manufacturers who made marketing
- mistakes.
-
- IMHO, the stuff DAK offers is of decent quality, but not usually at the
- *top* of the quality ladder. That is, everything will work as promised,
- and maybe live a useful life past the warranty. It is not junk.
-
- One thing about DAK. They are often the first kid on the block with a
- cheap price, but the competition is rarely far behind. Examples: they
- offered a Mustek hand scanner with an excellent software bundle for $150
- when everyone else was still selling the same unit (without the bundled
- software) for $200-$300. A couple months later, several retailers were
- selling the same bundle for $100-$150. It took DAK another month to drop
- the price to $100 while they clean out the rest of their stock (the item is
- being dropped from their inventory). They have been selling a CD-ROM for
- $200 for some months while everyone else has been selling the same unit
- with a different nameplate for $400+. Now the competition is starting to
- close in on DAK's price, but DAK is now pushing a better CD-ROM unit with a
- price below the competition. The moral is, if you HAVE to have it now and
- don't want to shop, DAK is good. But if you have the time to shop and are
- a little patient - you can probally do as well or better elsewhere.
