- Recently I had to do a low level format on my 42Meg Conner CP344 drive.
- This was due to there being a large number of bad sectors after a high level format.
- The format was done after warming up the machine to an appropiate tempreture.
- After the format it work fine with no bad sectors. A few days later I switched on
- the machine to find it refusing to boot and reporting and 'Invalid Data Read' by
- the bios. So out came the boot disks (DrDos V5) it started loading then scanned for
- the HD at this point the disk light came on, and nothing happend for about 5 yep five
- minutes. Then it carried on loading but the HD was unavailble. MsDos V3.3 did
- the same but only hung for about 3 minutes.
- I have tried the disk on another machine with a different set of cables to
- eliminate controller/cable faults.
- Since the drive cannot be accesed from within dos is there anything I can do with
- the drive?
- Is is possible to get the drive fixed in the UK, if so where and how much?
-
- Or has anyone got a very cheap IDE HD for sale.

- Cheers
