- Huh????
-
- You mean the manual you get with the ATI Graphics Ultra Pro doesn't
- tell you how to switch into 640x480x16.7M mode???
-
- My manual from the ATI VGAWonder 256k (yes, old) told me what HEX
- value to use to switch into any mode the card supported, and even
- told me how the bit planes were organized.
-
- This isn't a VGA card. There is no such thing as BIOS for it. 8514 is
- i/o mapped registers only, and the specification of those was never
- made public by IBM (but reengineered by C&T, WD and ATI).
-
- In these days of desktop publishing it shouldn't be too difficult to
- draw up a nice looking company letterhead (might actually be some
- fun). It's a bit more friendly than a non disclosure agreement. I
- can understand that companies don't wont to publish information that
- would result in less talented experimenters returning burnd cards or
- monitors and besides the 8514 chipset manual that I have is already
- more than a 100 pages.
