- So,
- I plug in a $39.95 SVGA card and the computer won't boot. Doesn't even get
- to do the disk diagnostics. I tried all combinations of jumpers for automatic
- BIOS detection or not, and 8 bit vs 16 bit slots. This has not had any effect.
- Also, the idiotic motherboard switch for color or monochrome monitor has no
- effect.
-
- From what I can tell when I boot this PC with a Hercules card, the system
- BIOS begins at F800 - so there shouldn't be a conflict with that. Also, there's
- no unusual hardware installed - just the standard Compaq disk/parallel/serial
- board and a second add-on for lpt2/com2.
-
- Any ideas about what is happening ? By the way, the board has a Trident
- TVGA9000 controller, a single chip Quadtel BIOS, and 256K video memory.
-
- Thanks,
- George
