- Hello netters !
-
- I'm about to make a memory upgrade on my computer and I would like to
- have answers for some questions first.
-
- There is my main problem. I have a 486-33 computer with 256k cache (if it
- matters) and I would like to know about the speed of the memory I should
- buy. I heard a few times that because the computer is very fast, you have
- to have a wait state on memory acces, because the memory is too slow. It
- makes sense to, and moreover, there's a wait state for memory in my CMOS
- configuration. Well, I would like to what would be the memory speed
- required to get rid of that wait state. Is there fast enough memory available
- on the market ?
-
- If for all memory available, I need to put a wait state, could I buy
- slower memory without having to put 2 wait states ? If so, how slow
- could the memory be ?
-
- BTW, if it's of some importance in the matter, I currently have 4 1-mb
- modules and I plan to get 2 4-mb modules instead.
-
- Another question. One of my friend will soon buy a computer and he
- would like to have 4 megs of RAM, we told him it would be better to put
- 4-megs modules for memory, but some people told us it's better to put
- memory modules in pairs, is it true ?
-
- Thanks for your help.
-
- Please respond by E-mail, I don't currently have the time to read all
- the messages here... But I would like to ! I wouldn't have to ask stupid
- questions like these ! :-) :-)
