- I have a Compaq DESKPRO 386 that's having some boot problems. I think
- that I just need to low-level format the hard drive, but all the
- software I've tried to use (Norton, PC TOOLS) all say that they can't
- format the drive because it's using sector translation. In read in the
- documentation for Spinrite II that you could disable the sector
- translation by using the setup disk. I got a new setup disk from my
- dealer, but there is no option to disable the sector translation on it.
-
- Anyone have any clues on how I can disable it?
-
- Pleaes reply via email.
