  14. I'm interested in finding out if anyone has any facts about the ATI VGA 
  15. Wonder XL24 card that they'd care to pass on (both +s and -s, about the
  16. card and ATI support/tech info).

  18. I'm in the market to get a graphics card that supports > 256 colors in high
  19. res modes, and I'm not concerned with Windows performance.  However, I
  20. would like that card to be fast in DOS and custom applications.  I'd 
  21. definitely want to get the specs on how to address the card's graphics
  22. modes.  Price is also a consideration.  My understanding is that the XL24 
  23. supports:

  25.             640x480  24-bit color (16.7M) 
  26.             800x600  15-bit color (32767) 
  27.                1024x768  8-bit color  (  256)

  29. What I don't know is:

  31.      1) Does this card have the other 256/16 color modes supported by the
  32.           original VGA wonder, and if so, are they addressed in the same
  33.           way?

  35.      2) Is there info available on how to program the new modes?  I've
  36.       called the ATI BBS and only found the old XL programming info
  37.       (PROGINFO.ZIP) which I already have a copy of.  I didn't
  38.       see any prog. info for any of the newer cards, including the
  39.       Ultra, Ultra +, Ultra Pro, and the XL24.

  41.      3) How does the speed of this card stack up against other cards (the
  42.       original Wonder, or the Wonder XL for example).

  44.      4) Is this card at least as compatible with CGA, EGA, and std VGA as
  45.       the original VGA Wonder.  I want to make sure that I'll still
  46.       be able to run all my old programs with no problems.
