- MS-DOS will believe what is stored in the BPB of the disk. If the disk
- geometry has been placed there correctly, the MS-DOS will be able to read
- the disk, even with a non-standard format.
-
- It's FORMAT that enforces the disk capacity standards. To make FORMAT
- do all the things that FDFORMAT does would add a degree of complexity that
- would confuse most users, as well as introducing a undesired amount of
- support issues.
