- Incompatible bus timing between the motherboard and the drive could
- cause this. I've had trouble with Laser XT's and Quantum SCSI drives.
- After many hours, I understood that it was the Laser Motherboard that
- controlled the problem. Months later I learned that these motherboards
- were giving trouble with internal modems as well. (This is the Laser XT
- sold by Sears.)

- Even when we got a Seagate SCSI to work on the bus, the transfer rate
- was more like a floppy than a hard drive.

- I suggest you try something like another drive, or change the bus clock
- and see if you can get a drive recognized. Then check the transfer rate
- and see if it's limping.
