  17. CABLE KIT for HP48S, HP48SX and HP95LX:

  19. Using  the cable  is  described in  the manual for  HP48SX  in 
  20. chapter 33, "Transferring Data to and from the HP48."

  57. The  cables  comes  with  one  of the indicated colour codings
  58. (brown,red, orange,yellow or green,blue,violet,grey).

  60. On the 9 pin connector you may have to wire pin 4,  6,  and  8
  61. together  and  on  the  25  pin connector you may have to wire
  62. together pin  5,  6,  and  20.  This  is  required  with  some
  63. computers (to have CTS and DSR active),  but it may not always
  64. be required.

  66. The other day I had the chance to try a new cable on  a  brand
  67. new 48SX.  It worked fine, but I had to press the connector in
  68. place with the tip of  a  screwdriver  until  a  slight  click
  69. announced  that  it was correctly seated.  I never experienced
  70. that  with my  own  old 48SX.  I better  mention it  here,  or
  71. somebody might think the cable isn't working reliably :-).  It
  72. really *is* important to press  the  cable  firmly  in  place,
  73. until  the  cable has been used some times.  I have now used a
  74. cable like this for more than half a year,  and it has  always
  75. worked fine.
