- I think, Your 48 is ok, if the wire self test is ok.
- Maybe You should test the connection in both directions.
- Connect Your HP-48 to the mac, adjust setup on both sides the same, and enter
- Kermit connect mode by pressing c at the Kermit prompt.
- Then execute OPENIO on the HP-48 (2nd IO menu), enter a string in quotes "",
- and press XMIT (3rd IO menu); now, on Your MACs screen the text should appear.
- Type something on the MAC, and execute BUFLEN (3rd IO menu); on stack level 2
- You should see the number of characters You typed on the mac; if You pick the
- number to stack level 1, and execute SRECV, the HP-48 normally shows the
- characters You typed on the mac.
- If both tests fail, something with Your cable and/or the MACs serial interface
- is wrong.
- If You get crunched characters on both sides, the setup ist not equal on both
- sides.
-
- My own experience (Educalc cable) is, that sometimes the contact on the HP-48
- side isn't very good, the effect is the same as in Your case; it's important to
- press the cable firmly into the calc.
-
- bye
