  21. Well, putting resources for a X-window client is some sort of
  22. adventure ;-) - don't tell me you don't like adventures :-))))).

  24. Seriously, the problem in most cases lies in the RESOURCE_MANAGER
  25. property of the root window. As explained in Doug Young's "The X
  26. WINDOW SYSTEM - PROGRAMMING and APPLICATIONS with Xt, OSF/Motif
  27. Edition" (a very recommandable book), pp. 50ff., the ~/.Xdefaults file
  28. is *ignored* if the RESOURCE_MANAGER property exists - and in most
  29. cases it will exist.

  33. You can specify the shell variable XENVIRONMENT to point to a file,
  34. which will then serve the same purpose as ~/.Xdefaults and will
  35. *definitely* be read by every X client at initialization time.
