  17. I just got the latest release of emacs (18.58) and
  18. compiled it on our new HP730.  Everything seems to
  19. work except _some_ of the Meta functions.  Some are
  20. OK, such as M-< and M->, but something like M-x 
  21. won't work.  For alot of the functions that won't
  22. work, emacs seems to be getting a different key press.

  24. e.g., I'll press M-x and M-q will be displayed in the
  25. mini-buffer at the bottom of the emacs window.  It's 
  26. as if _some_ of the Meta functions are being _translated_
  27. before they get to emacs.

  29. Could this be the 700's X server or HP-VUE?  I ask this
  30. way because of the following:

  32.     If I go to another workstation, rlogin to the 730,
  33. set my DISPLAY enviornment variable to the workstation I'm
  34. at, and run emacs....  everything works fine!

  36. The 730 is the only 700 series machine in the group (all
  37. the rest are 300 series), so perhaps the 700's X server?
  38. The 700 is also the only one running HP-VUE, maybe that?
  39. Note that the keypress' aren't being stopped -- emacs
  40. gets a keypress, just not what I typed!
