- I'm having some trouble installing a NEC D3142 harddisk on my Rainbow.
- It has 615 cylinders and 8 heads.
-
- It's possible to install it as a 20Mb HD with 615 cyl, 8 heads (like
- RD31 or whatever it's called). But when I try to install it as a 40Mb HD
- (thats what it is, really), I can't boot from any of the partitions and
- two of the partitions can't hold any files.
-
- I think it has something to do with the pre-boot and sec-boot loaders on
- the HD. I've heard that there's a program fixing this, DSKPREP (or something).
-
- I use MS-DOS 2.05, 2.11 and CP/M-86/80.
-
- Is there anyone who could help me with this ?
- Maybe someone knows where to get the DSKPREP program or have some ideas
- about how to overcome this problem.
-
- /Tom
