- First thing I'd say to do is nag the sysop... you'll probably have to translate
- from MS-DOSese but you might be able to figure out what's wrong.

- You probably need to press 'return' or something after you connect to get the
- school network server's attention (at least you do here at UNI).

- If all you get is a constant, high-pitched tone, then the modem is the problem.
- What you *want* to here is a high-pitched tone followed by a series of short
- "scratchy" noises, indicating that the carrier has been detected and the
- connection made. Wait for that before typing 'connect' to find out what's
- going on. This assumes that the modem has a speaker of some sort, I don't know
- if the 1660 does.
