  14.     I have owned an SX-64 for many years (7 in fact) and i have 
  15. just gotten my first modem (commodore 1660 / 300 bps). (hey! it was 
  16. free!) anyhow, i plug it into the back of the SX and plug the phone 
  17. cord into the in jack, and the phone in the out jack.  I boot up the 
  18. terminal program (kermit 2.2) and then dial the phone number to the 
  19. 300 bps modems connected to the mainframe on school with the phone.  
  20. The mainframe answers and I hear a high pitched beep on the phone.  
  21. I assume this is the carrier signal.  However, when i type connect, 
  22. the modem (seemingly) does not acknowledge the carrier.
  23.     Help! I'm very new at modems.... can anyone offer any
  24. possible help for me?  Thanks in advance.
