- Well it was actually the Apple //e with the rev.A motherboard that
- actually came out about the same time as the C64 (1982). The original
- Apple ][ came out in '76 & the Apple ][+ in '79. The big thing about
- the Apple was that it <gasp> could output a color signal! That was a
- real big deal back in 1976 even though the earliest models only had
- 4 colors (including B&W!). I think it '77 when the 6 color version
- hit the market. The best thing to compare the Apple with is the TRS-80
- model I & III. I would compare the C64 to the various Atari 8-bitters
- that were around back then.
