  14. I've just finished upgrading from Mercury 1.18 to Hermes 1.03 and appart from
  15. a few problems with understanding the German, it was a largely painless
  16. transition.  I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone who hasn't used Mercury before
  17. as the docs are patchy to say the least !

  19. A few questions though:

  21. 1.    Is there a better news reader than GUS ?   I don't like the GEM
  22.     interface as it slows me down.  Although I can use rn (from the
  23.     Mercury package) OK it would be really nice to get a better news
  24.     reader (eg: can do Kill of a subject, etc).  I've heard that NN
  25.     is good - any comments ?

  27. 2.    How can you get the expire program to work ?  The format of the
  28.     expire.def file is a mystery to me as my German isn't all that good
  29.     and there isn't an example in the package.

  31. 3.    Is there anyway I can get gus to remember what my username is
  32.     - I've got a current.usr file setup but I still have to type geoffc
  33.     every time.  I've tried setting up a LOGNAME environment variable
  34.     but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
