- This is an example of a highly detailed trouble-call. NOT!
-
- If you're going to post such 'requests for information', please be a bit more
- specific with the details. As an example:
-
- "I just tried to FTP something from the atari.archive site. I could browse
- the New directory, but when I tried to get something from that directory it
- gave the following error:
-
- 'You are not authorized to get files from this directory'
-
- How come?"
-
- To which, of course, Jeff Weiner (and I, as surrogate in this particular
- USENET newsgroup posting) would reply:
-
- "Send me an e-mail message rather than attempting to get answers from a large
- group of people who
-
- (a) don't have the slightest idea what you are talking about;
-
- (b) don't have the access to answer your question if they DO know what
- you are talking about;
-
- (c) don't have the means to correct a problem in the first place."
-
- -----------
-
- Of course, there could be something wrong with the directory structure, but
- without quoting the actual error message you received, and without information
- about the file you were attempting to retreive and what directory you were
- attempting to retrieve it from, your posting isn't going to get you the answers
- you want.
